About Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture
Chinese Medicine is both an art and a science. The ability to read and interpret the pulse and tongue are vital in this field of medicine. Both give an incredible amount of information about the internal environment of the body, usually more than the patient is aware of.

Acupuncture is just one of the many modalities of treatment used, and is the use of very fine filiform needles that are comparable to a hair in thickness. They are inserted at specific points on the body that elicit a specific reaction in the body.

In Chinese Medicine there are 12 main channels, or Meridians that follow the nervous system in the body. Essentially, acupuncture manipulates the nervous system by adjusting the “flow of qi” or energy. This flow of qi can be thought of as the neurotransmission by the nervous system in the body. The needles act as a conductor or switch, to move, sedate or tonify the qi.

Other therapies used in Chinese Medicine include Tui-na (a Chinese form of massage), Cupping, Moxabustion, Qi gong/Tai chi, auricular therapy, and counseling on diet and nutrition.

About Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine is typically used to bring the body back into a state of harmony at the organ level. This style of acupuncture can treat many ailments, from musculo-skeletal pain in all its forms, to organ ailments, and mental and emotional disturbances such as insomnia, stress and depression.

About 5-Element
Five Element treats emotional and psychological disorders at an even deeper level than Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has it’s own points on the body that can have a profound effect on the mind and body. This style of acupuncture can effectively treat deep seated psychological and personality disorders such as:
  • Bipolar
  • Manic Depression
  • Narcissistic Behavior
  • Anti-Social
  • Borderline
  • Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADD)
  • Attention-Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)
This is only a short list of psychological disorders and maladies that acupuncture can treat. There have been many documented studies that have proven acupuncture is effective, and equivalent to the effect of tranquilizers in cases of depression, insomnia, worry and nervous disorders, and its action is swift and lasting.
